Guest Keynote Speaker Mark Vifiades - Data Interoperability Standards
Mark Vifiades - Senior advisor, Office of the National Coordinator
Mark is a champion for standards - based data Interoperabilty.
It is great to hear that our government is a big supporter of simple, complete interoperability for health and social services data.
Mark discussed the 21st century cures act that calls for:
1) common methods for authentication
2) common rules for trusted data interchange
3) policies and procedures for trusted data interchange
4) a process for filing notices for non-compliance
Mark discussed the need for apps and apis to enable these data interchange goals.
Also discussed was the draft trusted exchange framework and common agreement for minimum and recommended terms and conditions as well as the technical underpinnings to enable trust.
This stance and proposed rules will help drive patient outcomes. It will also provide the necessary Interoperability framework that will enable the security community to create new technologies and paradigms that will improve security and privacy, reduce cost and speed time to delivery.
